Animal Crossing: New Horizons Enables Up To 8 Players To Play Together Online

Animal Crossing: New Horizons may have been delayed, but Nintendo is determined to keep us hanging on every word. During the Nintendo Treehouse stream, it was revealed that up to eight players will be able to play together on the same island – either via local wireless or through online multiplayer. It’s a big first for the series, which previously only allowed up to four players to visit each other’s towns in local wireless. While it may not always be feasible to play with eight players at once,  (imagine the garden hole havoc!) it’s great to have the opportunity nevertheless.

And online multiplayer wasn’t the only new announcement. There were a boatload of new features shown off during the stream, including the ability to set your game within the southern hemisphere, craft and make your own tools and furniture with DIY Recipes via your ‘Nookphone’, place furniture both inside and outside of your house, create your own paths, collect ‘Nook Miles’, and even jump over the lake with a pole. Plus, if you’re an old school fan, you can still buy tools from the Nook store and even ‘show off’ your bugs and fish.

It’s clear that the developers of Animal Crossing: New Horizons wanted to give players a new experience instead of bringing them to a pre-destined town. With more freedom to build, craft and play with friends, the future certainly looks bright for New Horizons.
