One Twitter User Predicted the Plot and Title of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Back in 2012

Perhaps the future isn’t so impossible to see…

Fan theories have blown up and become a major talking point across the Internet ever since Disney acquired Lucasfilm and the Star Wars franchise back in 2012, but one Twitter user may have had the most accurate theory of them all.

Back in November 2012, user Gabriel Garcia (@GabbyG41) looked into the future and eerily predicted both the title of Episode 9 and one of its major plot points (albeit predicting that it would be the plot of Episode 7, not Episode 9):

Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm was announced at the end of October 2012, meaning this specific Tweet’s timing would likely predate any actual solid pre-production or story development of The Force Awakens. Whether or not it’s an insider leaking information loooooong before anyone would fully understand it, an extremely lucky person, or an actual time-traveler, it’s pretty wild to dig up a prediction this accurate nearly seven years before it would be relevant.

Their follow-up Tweet to this one also mentions Imperial Guards rescuing Palpatine “from submersion,” which might be a reference to the early concept art from The Force Awakens showing the Emperor’s throne room submerged in water. This second Tweet sounds more like a joke than a legit prediction, but…who knows?

While you’re considering how they reached this bizarrely accurate conclusion, make sure to also check out our elaborate breakdown of every detail in the all-new trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, read up on our theory of how Emperor Palpatine was hiding in Snoke the whole time, and catch up on everything else we know about Episode 9.
